Bangladesh: Retired Hindu Teacher, Wife, Two Children Found

A retired schoolteacher, his wife, their 23-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son were found dead inside their locked home in Rangpur, Bangladesh. Police and investigating agencies have launched a probe, but the motive and circumstances behind the deaths remain unclear.

A retired Hindu schoolteacher, his wife and their two children were found dead inside their locked home in Rangpur city, Bangladesh, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The bodies of Ganapati Chakraborty, 65, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty, 50, daughter Agami Chakraborty Prarthi, 23, and son Priyam Chakraborty, 12, were recovered from their residence in the Daspara area late Saturday night.

Police said the exact cause, motive and timing of the deaths have not yet been established.

Four Family Members Found Dead

According to reports, police entered the house after family members and relatives became concerned when they were unable to contact the family.

The house was reportedly locked and its lights were switched off. Relatives said the family's four mobile phones had been unreachable since Thursday night.

Police subsequently arrived at the residence, broke open the lock and recovered the four bodies.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as retired Rangpur Zilla School teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, his wife Pritilata, their daughter Agami and their 12-year-old son Priyam.

Ganapati had reportedly retired from Rangpur Zilla School at the end of last year.

His daughter Agami had recently completed a Master's degree in English from Rangpur Carmichael College, while Priyam was studying in Class 5.

After retirement, Ganapati had reportedly started working as a homoeopathic practitioner.

Relatives Raised Alarm After Losing Contact

Family members reportedly became worried after repeated attempts to contact the household failed.

Puja Chakraborty, a relative of Pritilata, said she had last spoken with her sister on Thursday afternoon.

When relatives reached the house on Saturday night, they reportedly found the main gate locked and no lights on inside the property.

Police were then called to the location.

Bodies Found In Different Parts Of The House

Investigators have reportedly found the four bodies in different locations inside the residence.

According to Rangpur Metropolitan CID officials, the bodies of Pritilata and Agami were found near the staircase.

Ganapati's body was reportedly discovered on the roof, while his son Priyam was found under a bed.

The unusual locations have added to questions surrounding what happened inside the house.

Police, CID And Detective Branch Begin Investigation

The Rangpur Metropolitan Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Detective Branch have begun investigating the deaths.

Police said they have not yet determined who was responsible or established a clear motive.

Nazmul Kader, officer-in-charge of Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station, said investigators were examining the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Officials said the investigation will focus on determining how, when and why the four family members died and whether anyone else was involved.

No Clear Motive Established Yet

Relatives told investigators that Ganapati was considered a good-natured person and that they were not aware of any enemies or disputes involving the family.

However, authorities have not ruled out any possibility at this stage.

The deaths have raised concern among relatives and local residents, but there is currently no confirmed evidence establishing the motive or identifying a suspect.
