Infosys Co-Founder Shibulal-Backed Shikshagraha Partners With Teach For India to Expand Public-School Reforms

Shikshagraha, an education reform movement backed by Infosys co-founder S.D. Shibulal, is stepping up efforts to improve India’s public-school system through a new partnership with Teach For India.

Teach For India has joined Shikshagraha as a momentum partner, bringing its experience in developing teachers and education leaders to the movement’s wider public-school reform network.

The collaboration combines Teach For India’s classroom-based leadership approach with Shikshagraha’s network connecting government institutions, civil society organisations and local communities.

The partnership is aimed at supporting systemic improvements in public education while building stronger leadership at the school and community levels.

Shikshagraha has set an ambitious target of strengthening one million public schools across India. According to the organisation, its movement has already brought together more than 3.9 lakh leaders across 2.1 lakh public schools.

Teach For India, which has spent 17 years working on teacher development and education leadership, is expected to contribute its experience from working directly with classrooms and educators.

The partnership reflects a broader focus on creating sustainable improvements within government schools by bringing multiple stakeholders together rather than relying only on individual interventions.

With public schools serving a significant share of India’s students, initiatives aimed at strengthening school leadership, teacher capacity and community participation remain central to improving learning outcomes at scale.

The latest collaboration is expected to add momentum to Shikshagraha’s goal of building a nationwide ecosystem for public-school transformation.
